Having a top team that works well as a team (and not just as individual achievers) is the second most important attribute to success, according to this survey of Alliance CEOs and their top teams.
Yet our top team members are much better at individual work than teaming. The survey drew out approaches that CEOs use to get an ideal team. But one of the problems is that CEOs are often too loyal to their top team—and keep underperformers around.
