How to Make your CEO-CFO Relationship a Real Competitive Advantage

Friday, May 29, 2015    7:30 – 11:30am PDT    San Francisco
a seminar for CEOs of midsized companies

Our research on thriving midsized companies has found that one of their key success factors is something that many CEOs overlook: the importance of their CFO’s mix of skills and personality to creating the ideal partnership for achieving profitable growth.

The best CEO/CFO match-ups are built on trust between a CFO who thinks strategically and executes operationally, with an eye for transformative and/or disruptive opportunities, and a CEO who lets the finance chief exercise those skills. We have found that CEOs of midsized companies who fine-tune their CFO relationships see improvements across every aspect of company performance.

This seminar will be led by two principals of CEO to CEO, Inc., a consulting firm that helps leaders facing significant opportunities and challenges to rapidly improve their leadership infrastructure and accelerate their company’s performance to the next level. Founding principal Robert Sher, the best-selling author of Mighty Midsized Companies will co-present with Andrea Tiller, a 20-year veteran CFO with experience working in publicly traded and privately held companies ranging from pre-revenue to $220 million. Robert will bring his own experience as a CEO, researcher, and coach to CEO peers, as he engages in point-to-counterpoint dialogue with Andrea, who will lay out the unvarnished truth about what works between CEOs and CFOs, and what does not.  Together, they will outline a framework for defining the ideal match between you and your CFO, depending on the needs of your business.

Format:
During the seminar, participants will be taken through a process for understanding the characteristics of a CFO they’ll need for their company to thrive. And after the seminar, a complimentary thirty-minute consultation can be scheduled with Rob or Andrea.  You will also receive a copy of Rob’s book Mighty Midsized Companies: How Leaders Overcome 7 Silent Growth Killers.

Enrollment is limited to about 12 CEOs of midsized companies. All attendees must have the top-most finance executive as their direct report. Breakfast and snacks will be served.  Advanced registration is required:  $495 per CEO.

You will learn:

  • How to identify the different “power levels” of CFOs, so you won’t be surprised after you hire one.
  • How to choose the right “power level” of CFO according to the trajectory of your business and your company’s needs.
  • Understanding common CFO mindsets and personality types.
  • What type of CEO behaviors get the most out of each type of CFO.
