How CFOs Can Keep Revenue – and Budget – on Target
May 21, 2013. San Ramon, CA. Robert Half Management Resources. Working with the Leadership Team to Make Sure the Best-Laid Plans Don’t Go Astray.
Much effort and fanfare often goes into creating annual plans in fourth quarter, but as the year rolls on, leadership teams can be distracted by the urgent and the “shiny”. December 2012 is starting to seem like long ago.
The CFO can and should play a critical role in developing a culture of management discipline, far beyond budgeting. A starting point can be developing a cadence of communication around performance progress, an appropriate level of exposure of both individual and team results, and acting as a catalyst for corrective tactics to say on target.
Robert Half Management Resources brought together leading CFOs from the Tri-Valley to discuss this critical topic. Robert Sher presented a framework for the discussion, then they worked live case studies brought by the attendees. This closed-door, confidential event was for active CFOs only, and was a no-selling environment. All CFOs in attendance came ready to contribute their ideas and experience as case studies were worked, and/or contributed a current situation they were facing at their company as a case study exercise.
